First Quarter, Complete

See ya later chemo quarter one!

So far I’m feeling quite exhausted but knock on wood, no nausea or vomiting yet!! The first day of chemo I got a nausea med in my IV that lasted about 40 hours but I passed that milestone with nothing to report. I’m religiously taking my pill every 8 hours, including a 1:30am wake up call.

The next three days will be telling so continue to pray! I will handle fatigue all day so long as I’m not throwing my guts up. I take the steroid through tomorrow and the nausea medicine through Sunday for this round (then as needed, if needed).

One more day of radiation tomorrow at 7:15am and then a much needed break for the weekend to get some solid sleep!

If I’m feeling ok tomorrow, we are going to grab my wig. I’m told it’s, “fabulous!” I’m told my hair will start to go at any point come that week and a half – two week mark, so the clock is ticking.  Lots of emotions as I love my red hair but now that I’m in the thick of this fight, I’m getting better perspective that it’s just hair and it’ll come back. Plus I don’t have to shave my legs for a long time, big bonus!

Today also marks 5 weeks post surgery, another big milestone. I’m moving around so much better, walking pretty normally at this point. With getting the needle out today for chemo, I stand a chance of sleeping on my side for the first time since surgery. For those of you that are side or belly sleepers like me, having to sleep on your back for 5 weeks is torterous! These are the small wins that keep you going.

Thank you for your continued prayers & positive thoughts, I’m really feeling them. Keep them coming. Sending so much love to all of you!

  1. So glad to hear it went well. Great job on focusing on those little wins. Although they’re small, they each deserve their own separate celebration. I got a wig too and the hair was definitely a harder part for me, but you’ve got the right attitude for sure! Those little knit hats are a lifesaver because it gets cold. I used to even sleep in them because my head would get cold at night, haha. If you ever need to talk, or vent or anything, just let me know. Praying for you and your family!
